Locomotion Methods
Keep in Mind!
Auto locomotion methods have a finite maximum reach in order to simulate reality and strategic gameplay. This reach is based on the run speed of an athletic person. To reach more shots, make sure you pre position yourself to center court, or where you would anticipate a return shot.
If you would like the auto-locomotion to move you less frequently to very close shots, increase the deadzone setting. If you would like it to move you more frequently for small adjustments, decrease the deadzone setting.

Strategic Locomotion Update (2024)
Auto-teleport, Auto-Run, and Thumbstick locomotion now all share the same max movement speeds for finite distance covering ability. This is to enable strategic play and unreachable shots via good shot placement in multiplayer and singleplayer. This will result in you not reaching some shots in time unless you were in a good position to before hand.
STRATEGY TIP! To maximize your court reach make sure to use macro positioning to move yourself back to center court after returning shots, just like footwork and court positioning in real life this is an important part of the strategy, and we believe in leaving this as player input instead of done automatically, to add to the appropriate cognitive load of carrying out good strategy.
General Info
Description and controls are exactly like Auto Teleport, the difference is the motion will be smoothed motion towards the target point instead of an instant teleport.
This is the Devs Favorite option short of having a full court space to run around manually. Make sure to read the description for Auto-Teleport to understand how Micro and Macro movement work! Which are an essential part of using Auto-Run.

This will result in you not reaching some shots in time unless you were in a good position to before hand.

Under the hood Auto-Teleport now simulates where the users position would be if they were using Auto-Run, and it uses this simulated Auto-Run position:
1) To limit the teleport distance towards reaching a ball to the same maximum distance an Auto-Run user would be able to reach in time
2) As well as a starting point anchor for any teleports that follow an uncapped distance teleport
In some cases when there is no time constraint to reach a teleport location, such as positioning up to the net after a shot has gone by the front of the court, Auto-Teleport will allow for infinite distance coverage. Successive teleports are tied to the Auto-Run anchor simulating the run up to the net and can not give distance covering advantage relative to Auto-Run players.
General Info
Auto Teleport will place you instantly in the path of incoming shots. To further tweak your position beyond the automated placement the thumbstick can be used to change position in a Micro or Macro way.
Micro is simple thumbstick locomotion to further tweak your position after an auto teleport.
Macro is large court based position changes using the thumbstick to snap up towards the kitchen, retreat back into deep court or baseline to catch a shot, or right/left to be placed left or right of an incoming shot. When you snap up to kitchen you will stay pushed up for all further incoming shots unless you pull your self back using a Macro adjustment, or if you step far enough away from the kitchen using real life positioning or Micro position yourself back into deep court, or finally if an unreachable shot is hit towards you at the kitchen, such as a lob. At that point the automated locomotion will teleport you away from the kitchen to catch the shot, and to re-push up to kitchen you will have to Macro adjust forward or Micro move yourself to the front part of the court again.
If you wish to stay at the kitchen even when a lob passes overhead that would ordinarily pull you back, you can hold forward in macro mode and you will not be pulled back.
Deadzone is a size in meters around you to not trigger a teleport to so you can control if small distance teleports occur
Thumbstick Controls
Macro Controls (default behavior)
Use [thumbstick] [forward]/[back] to snap to kitchen/deep court (the depth adjusts to incoming shots).
Use [thumbstick] [right]/[left] to be placed on the preferred forehand or backhand side of a shot.
Micro Controls (only activated while [Grip] is held)
Use [thumbstick] to smooth locomote and tweak your automated teleport position.
If you prefer inverted [Grip] behavior the use the [Inverted Micro/Macro on Grip] option.

General Info
Smooth thumbstick based motion, hold down the [Grip] button to enter a faster sprint speed.
Roomscale
No locomotion during an active point and thumbstick locomotion is turned off. This is if you have a very large play area and want to run manually. Outside of a point you will be shown service areas visually marked on the court to walk to.
